Генеральный директор Apple Тим Кук в феврале 2014 года прибудет в Турцию для личной встречи с президентом страны Абдуллой Гюлем. Руководитель американской корпорации планирует обсудить с главой государства крупную сделку об использовании iPad в государственной системе образования.
На первом этапе Турция рассчитывает закупить у Apple 10,6 миллионов планшетов с перспективой увеличения заказов на 2-2,5 миллиона гаджетов. Полностью заменить устаревшее оборудование на современные устройства планируется в течение четырех лет. За это время в проект будет инвестировано по разным оценкам от 3 до 4 миллиардов долларов.
Возможность использования iPad в образовании будет обсуждаться с гендиректором Apple в рамках проекта FATIH Project, который направлен на то, чтобы ликвидировать в Турции традиционные доски, тетради и учебники и заменить их планшетными компьютерами.
Кроме встречи с президентом страны, Тим Кук планирует посетить и первый в Турции Apple Store, который должен открыться в начале года в Стамбуле. Магазин площадью около 2000 квадратных метров будет похож на флагманский Apple Store в Нью-Йорке, имеющий форму огромного стеклянного куба.
Напомним, в мае 2013 года премьер-министр Турции Реджеп Тайип Эрдоган посещал штаб-квартиру Apple, чтобы познакомиться с последними разработками компании. Предположительно в рамках этого визита политик и предложил Apple принять участие в проекте FATIH Project.
