Mixing interactive technology with graffiti techniques (stencils, drips, nozzles), Tangible’s Digital Graffiti Wall is the original, invented by the company back in 2007. Despite including the word art, this term originated in technology, and its first recorded use appears in a 1910 book on the gas turbine. Today it is often used adjectivally, as in This is a state-of-the-art camera, and sometimes very loosely, as in That movie is state-of-the-art Woody Allen.
Digital wall art is either entirely generated on the computer or based on a scanned image which is then digitally enhanced to create the finished product. This new form of art emerged in the 1960s and has become more common place with advances in computer technology and desk top publishing software. https://audiogrill.net/
Art and artists are increasingly responding to these changes by integrating the language and methods of science. The Art + Technology program prepares students to become artists by facilitating the conceptual, technical, and creative development of an informed and critical practice.
Inspired by the spirit of LACMA’s original Art and Technology program (1967-1971), which paired artists with technology companies in Southern California, the Art + Technology Lab at LACMA supports artist experiments with emerging technology. Through our sponsors, the Lab provides grants, in-kind support, and facilities at the museum to develop new artist projects. To date, 20 artists from around the world, including Ghana, Ireland, Korea, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Switzerland, have received awards through the Art + Technology Lab.
